Marcelo Soares is a freelance researcher and journalist based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. A former Executive Manager of Abraji (the Brazilian Association for Investigative Journalism), his work has appeared in a number of major international media outlets, including Wired magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and MTV. His recent work with Foglamp has included analysis of the Brazilian counterfeit drug market and new tax regulations affecting the Brazilian banking sector.

Boris Demidov is one of Russia’s leading experts on corruption and governance. A former General Manager of Transparency International’s Russia chapter, Boris now runs the Development Gateway Foundation’s Governance Network (an off-shoot of the World Bank), where he tracks bleeding edge research on governance issues in Russia and around the world. A visiting scholar at American University’s Transnational Crime and Corruption Center in 2002, Boris has worked with Foglamp since 2003.

Gemma Bagayaua Mendoza is a leading Filipino investigative journalist who has worked with Foglamp since 2006. A former political aide in the Filipino Senate, Begayaua has served as online editor for Newsbreak, the Philippines’ leading weekly political magazine, since 2001. Working in one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists, Begayaua has published award-winning reporting on mining, healthcare, land rights, and the arms trade in the Philippines.
